Residential & Commercial Water Treatment for Boulder

Whether you’re looking for a water filtration system for your office in Center Green or your restaurant on Pearl Street or a reverse osmosis system for your Boulder home, Water Works is ready to assist! We are honored to be the leading source for commercial and residential water treatment in Boulder.

Water Testing

Is your water quality up to par? Having your water tested ensures that it’s safe for your appliances, household plumbing, and human consumption. Water tests help identify bacteria, nitrates, dissolved solids, contaminants, pH levels, and other factors that affect your water quality. Our water analysis services can provide you with peace of mind and include testing for residential water, well water, office water, health grade water, commercial, and industrial applications.

Water Softeners

Often, our customers are surprised to discover that the culprit behind issues they’ve been experiencing in their home like spots on dishes and dry skin is hard water. Water hardness can vary severely throughout the city, and sometimes differs even in the same neighborhood from one home to the next. Installing a water softener is an easy way to improve the water quality in your home or business. We offer a variety of water softeners including ion exchange, salt-free conditioners, reverse osmosis, magnetic, and more.

Water Purification

Water contamination is a serious issue. Biological, particular, and chemical contaminants can cause diseases and seriously jeopardize your health. Unfortunately, most contaminants cannot be identified with the naked eye, so it’s important to have your water tested. Installing a water purification system can help you make sure that your water is safe for drinking, bathing, and using in your home.

Water Filtration

Water Works is proud to offer an extensive selection of water filtration systems for Boulder homes and businesses. Installing a water filtration system is an effective way to improve the taste, purity, and quality of your water supply. Is the Drinking Water Safe in Boulder?

It’s an important question to ask! After all, the quality of your water matters deeply to your health! Additionally, having clean water in your home is essential for other activities like cooking, washing, and doing household chores. So even though your tap water looks clean, is it safe? Here’s what you need to know about the water quality in Boulder, Colorado.

Boulder’s water supply is managed by the City of Boulder. Public Works is the name of the Utilities Department. Boulder’s water comes from sources located on both sides of the Continental Divide. The upper Colorado River and Boulder Creek are important water sources for the city. Water is stored in the Barker Reservoir, Lakewood Reservoir, Silver Lake Reservoir, and Boulder Reservoir.

The city of Boulder uses chlorine to disinfect the drinking water. Chlorine amounts are kept to a safe level. The city conducts about 25,000 drinking water tests annually, and tests for 500 different substances. Water hardness in Boulder usually averages around 42 mg/L, or 2.4 grains/gallon.

You can find more information on the water quality in Boulder by visiting the City of Boulder website.

Water Quality in Boulder Neighborhoods

Water Works is proud to serve the entire city of Boulder and the surrounding area. Below, you will find some information about the water quality in popular neighborhoods.

Floral Park

A great deal of construction in Floral Park took place in the 1930’s. Homes built prior to 1980 are at increased risk of having water quality issues due to outdated plumbing.

Mapleton Hill

The development of Mapleton Hill can be traced back to 1865. Homes in this area may be well over 100 years old. If you live in a historic home, it’s more likely that you will need to install a water purification system due to the strong potential for old pipes and fixtures.

Chautauqua

Chautauqua’s roots reach back to the late 1890’s. A number of historic homes can be found in this neighborhood, making it important for residents to have their water tested to rule out the potential for contamination caused by lead and copper pipes.

Benefits of Water Purification & Filtration Systems

One of the best ways to ensure that you have access to clean, safe water in your home or business is to install a water filtration and purification system. Water filtration systems help remove contaminants, improve the taste and smell of your water, and give you access to benefits like:

  • Cleaner, healthier water: Water contaminants are known to cause a number of diseases, some of which can be life-threatening. Installing a water filter or purifier can give you access to cleaner, healthier water.
  • Safer for kids and elderly: Filtered water is safer for toddlers, children, and seniors because it is less likely to contain parasites, bacteria, and contaminants.
  • Stop buying plastic bottles: Reduce your plastic use. With a water filter, there’s no need to purchase plastic water bottles from the store.
  • Wonderful to drink: Filtered water is much more appealing to drink because it tastes and smells better.

Additional reasons: You need clean water for many activities including doing dishes, washing laundry, bathing, and more. Keep your water contaminant free with a filtration system!

Why Consider a Water Softener?

If you have low water pressure or often notice spots on your glassware after it comes out of the dishwasher, the issue could be that you have hard water. Water softeners offer a quick and easy solution for hard water removal and allow you to enjoy benefits like:

  • Cleaner dishes and laundry: Say goodbye to spots and stains caused by hard water. Soft water results in cleaner dishes and laundry.
  • Makes appliances last longer: Hard water is tough on your appliances. Keep them in good shape and help them last longer by installing a water softener system.
  • Clean pipes: Hard water can cause buildup and clogs in your plumbing. Keep everything running smoothly with a water softener.
  • Luxuriously soft skin and hair: Once you install a water softener, you will be amazed by the difference in your skin and hair. It will feel much smoother and softer to the touch!

Cost-effective: Installing a water softener system can help you save money on utility costs by preventing your water heater from overworking or burning out too soon.

Balancing the Pros and Cons of Well Water for Boulder Homes

Well water for Boulder homes can be a viable option for accessing natural groundwater, but it demands significant upkeep due to its susceptibility to contamination. Unlike treated city water, well water may contain various contaminants, including bacteria, sediment, pesticides, and heavy metals. Regular maintenance of well water systems, including water quality testing, filter replacements, and possible disinfection methods, is essential to ensure a safe and reliable supply of clean drinking water to Boulder households.

Understanding Well Water Contaminants in Boulder Homes

Boulder homes relying on well water may encounter a range of contaminants in their water supply. These contaminants can originate from various sources, such as agricultural runoff, industrial activities, and naturally occurring elements in the soil. Common contaminants found in well water in Boulder include bacteria (e.g., coliform and E. coli), nitrates, arsenic, lead, iron, manganese, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Regular water testing is vital to identify the presence of these contaminants and address them appropriately through effective filtration and purification measures.
